Isaiah 28:23-24 “Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil? ”
Psalm 126:5-6 “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. ”
In every life there is seedtime and harvest. In every life there is a time of planting and a time of reaping. There can be no reaping if there was no time of planting. Additionally, you always reap more than you planted in the first place. So when last have you stopped long enough to evaluate what you have planted and what season you are in? Are you in the season of plowing, the season of seedtime, are you in between or are you on the brink of harvest?
Daniel 2:20-21 invites us to give praise to God in our different seasons: “Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons.” When we take a closer look at these words, we are forced to recognize that the control of times and seasons are out of our hands. We are just mere humans and it is God Almighty himself who has that authority.
Isaiah 14:27 “The LORD of Hosts Himself has planned it; therefore, who can stand in its way? It is His hand that is outstretched, so who can turn it back?” Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted”.
Therefore, out of recognition that God is God, and no plan of the enemy has the power to succeed as greater is Jesus than evil itself, we need to worship and praise Jehovah because He embodies wisdom and power and uses these qualities to change and determine times and seasons.
Isn’t it great to serve the living God who is not bound by earthly circumstances? God can step right into history and rewrite everything. This is the God who sent manna from heaven, water from a rock, parted waters like a desert at harvest time, created man in His own image, and made dead bones into a living breathing army and the miracles of grace continues to today ( waking us up in our right minds). This is the same God who sent His son Jesus, not to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. This is the same God who used His power to call everything that is dead back to life. Yet this God gives us the freewill to accept Him or reject Him? What a God!
So if you seem to be stuck at seedtime, God can turn things around and bring forth an abundant harvest. If you are in-between like Ruth gleaning after someone else’s harvest, God can transform you from servant girl to mistress of the house, turning your weeping into songs of joy.
Today, let us praise Jehovah Jireh the Lord of seedtime and harvest who can and actually transform our times and seasons and extends our territory. Don’t you see it, God is doing a new thing?
PRAYER
Hey Father. Thanks for reminding me that You are the author of times and seasons. As I wait on you to change my seasons and my times, grant me the joy that is only found in your presence.
