Psalm 19:1-4 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world”.
Have you ever stopped to examine the night sky and watch the twinkling of the stars? As children (and as adults lol) we all sung the nursery rhyme: Twinkle, Twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are with our eyes fixed upon the stars wishing to be way up there. In our neck of the woods, my Daddy would show me the different types of stars like the Big and Little Dipper.
Well last night and early this morning for the first in a long time I went outside to my front yard to watch the stars. Why you may ask? Well it was the annual meteor light show. What? Let me break it down. Scientists had predicted that there were going to be 80 falling stars per hour from dusk to dawn and I wanted to get in the action. I wanted to test the predictions and to see at least one star falling from the sky. Well I saw three stars falling. It was fascinating watching the sky not knowing where the stars would fall from and scouring the sky just to watch it zip by. If I had a rooftop balcony I would I spent the night camping out with the stars. I felt like a child again with an instant connection with the heavens and God the Creator of the heavens.
For me Psalm 19:1-4 came alive:
“The heavens declare the glory of God and the skies declare the work of His hands, day after they pour forth His speech and night after night they reveal [God’s ]knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world”.
From my little corner of the earth I watched with enthusiasm the skies declaring, and speaking God’s knowledge to all.
Wouldn’t it be nice if like the stars we would declare God’s knowledge and speech by shining His light withal our might for all the earth to see? Now that would be the best lights show ever.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for placing your light in me so that others can see your glory, speech and knowledge. Forgive me when I hide your light instead shining for all the earth to see. May I never forget that, that is why you saved me so that others may see and glorify you. Amen.
