2 Kings 3:16-18a “This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water. ¹⁷ For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. ¹⁸ This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord…”

Psalm 107:35-38 “He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle.  They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish”.

Isaiah 41:18 “I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs”.

Pools of water, pools of water, pools of water!!!  God wants to provide transform our dry desert valleys into pools of water.  Where are you today?   What situation are you facing, that has bent you out of shape?  What is impossible for us, is possible for God, it is an easy thing for Him to do. It does not matter that we cannot see how it will be done, yet if the Lord gives us His word we must trust Him to do what he says.

In 2 Kings 3 the word of God to the three kings was that their literal desert would be transformed by God into pools of water.  Can you see them now wondering how this was going to be possible?  Before they got a chance to express those thoughts, God provided the answer to their thoughts.  He made it clear that wind or rain would not be the source of the water but that He would be the Source.  This was a very easy thing for him to do.  God was true to his word.   He did not only provide the water but the water lured their enemies to their defeat. This was not a onetime event in the Scriptures.  God did this time and time again for His people.

Experiences like this one were so miraculous that the Psalmist immortalized it in song so that God’s people would be able to lift up their voices in praise acknowledging God Almighty as their Source.  Father God is our source of the refreshing pools of water that we need to transform our desert places.  Sometimes it looks hopeless but the Lord wants us to consult Him and draw near to HIM so that He can perform that miracle in our dry and desert places.

Notice that Isaiah in chapter 41 speaks to the fact that the Lord will turn “the desert into pools of water”. So this is not just something that happened in the past but God wants to do it again in our lives today.  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever is right now at the Father’s side interceding for us saying to His Father ‘that is one of mine, don’t you see my blood and my seal on them, hear their prayer Father, turn their deserts into pools of water’.  Watch the love between the Father and the Son as Big Daddy says “No problem son, I have already dispatch my angels to transform their desert places, I knew your heart and before you called, I answered and I heard while you were still speaking’.

Hallelujah, Praise the Lord you are awesome God and there is no one else like you.

So today, no matter how hot and thirsty you are and as you watch the desert closing in on you, call on your big brother Jesus and see with your own eyes as the pools of water to refresh you and your situation appear out of nowhere.

God of my ancestors, I call you knowing that you will answer me and send the pools of water I need. In the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen
