2 Corinthians 12:9
‘But he said to me, “My Grace Is Sufficient For You, For My Power Is Made Perfect In Weakness.”’

Many years ago, I was very sick.  Doing ordinary things like: moving, combing hair, cutting up food, opening a bottle and so on, was very painful and sometimes virtually impossible. During this period of my life, focusing on anything else but the present pain took a lot of effort.  It was during this time that this verse My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9) became very real to me and found itself engraved on my heart.  I had to learn that God’s unmerited favour aka grace is sufficient no matter what circumstances I faced. When I was in pain, I was fully in the present and it is was hard to focus on the past or the future and so God’s use of the word   IS (sufficient) was (and still is) so real to me because it meant that every time I felt (or feel) pain his grace was (is) right there in the present with me.

This unmerited favour gave me the ability to hope beyond hope that one day in the future the present pain would no longer be the reality determining whether I could work, study, drive, take care of myself et cetera.  And praise the Blessed Trinity: Father God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of Jesus, today I can look back and sayThank God for his sufficient grace that kept me through those moments where all hope had almost gone and pain characterized my every move’.

Therefore, if today you are:

  • in the valley instead of on the mountain,
  • walking through tears & pain instead of laughter & joy,
  • covered with ashes instead of beauty,
  • in the season of brokenness instead of the season of wholeness,
  • ebbing instead of flowing,
  • tired instead of renewed,

Know that Jehovah Jireh our provider is more than enough for youHis grace is indeed sufficient to carry you through this season to the other side no matter how long this season appears to be.  Hold on my sister; hold on my brother, help is on the way. Jesus Christ is still the same, yesterday and forever. Trust Him!!!

PRAYER

Lord today I lean on you filled with emptiness and pain and seek your sufficient grace to strengthen me.  Jesus, forgive me when I think I can surmount these daily, hourly, minutely challenges on my own.  I run to your open arms of grace as fast as my little legs can carry me and jump up into your lap Daddy where you have been waiting for me all this time.  Anoint me with your Holy Spirit and heal my body, mind, soul and spirit so that I can carry out the work that you have ordained for me.  Love you lots.  Your child_____.  Amen
