Psalm 34: 14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Peace does not come naturally. Peace has to be sought and pursued. When my children were very young, things were sometimes very chaotic and peace was something that I had to deliberately seek and pursue. This peace was what helped me to cope through the changing scenes of life.
Therefore, when things are chaotic around you, you have to actively seek out peace and pursue it in order to possess it. God promises to keep us in perfect peace if our minds are steadfast on Him. God says we will find Him when we seek Him with all our hearts. So peace is found when we seek God with all our hearts and having found Him keep our minds locked on HIM. So in seeking peace we are really seeking out the Lord and pursuing Him with the love and passion of wanting HIM more than anyone or anything else.
Guess what though? We get added benefit from seeking and finding the Lord. What is benefit is that? The benefit of His peace which passes all understanding which is like an army which provides protection and guards our hearts and minds from the turmoil of doubts, fear, failures and all that seek to rob us of basking in the fullness of joy of God’s presence.
So, next time circumstances seek to rob you of the joy of seeking and pursuing and finding God’s peace, run with all your might to the secret place of the Most High who has your spot secure under the shadow of his wings. How about right now? He’s waiting.
PRAYER
Thanks Father for this peace you give and much more.
