“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.  For in just a little while, ‘He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back I will not be pleased with him’. But we will not be of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved”.  Hebrews 10:35-39

Sometime ago I started a programme at University all fired up and ready to go.  Within a month I was so sick, I had to withdraw from the programme and retreat from a lot of normal activities including work. I could only move with great difficulty as the pain was so severe.  Doing this period I was tempted to give up on life and God and stop believing.   But at my point of need God met and reassured me that His grace is indeed sufficient and that I should press on in faith.

God is calling us to be the generation that does not shrink back from the responsibility that He has given us. We need to persevere through the hard and difficult times believing God for what he has promised even when the impossible stares us in the face.  Remember the man who received the one talent but was afraid to risk everything for the kingdom of God and so he lost everything he had.  Jesus said in Matthew 13: 12 “Whoever has will be given more, and he will have in abundance.  Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him”.  What are you facing that is tempting you to throw in the towel?  Resist the devil and he will flee you.   Cast all your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.  God promises to be with you as you pass through the waters (Isaiah 43:2) so do not shrink back. Arise and go forth the Lord is coming and will not delay.

PRAYER

Father often times we shrink back from what you have called us to.  Forgive us Lord for we know that you are not pleased with us when we do that and we don’t want to be destroyed.  Give us the courage and strength to believe and persevere through the difficult times of crises and be saved.  We know that daily you bear our burdens so we cast them on you now.  In Jesus’ name. Amen
