Devotion 9
Isaiah 43:1-4
As I drove from work, my eyes glanced at the Blue Mountain range drinking in its beauty while I listened to the song on the radio “Whose report will you believe? The words of the song struck a chord deep down as I reflected on the times that I heard negative reports about my health, my finances, relationships to name just a few. During those times of bottomless grief, the LORD entered into my experience with this same question: Whose report will you believe? Despite my doubts, fears and pain, I came, sometimes reluctantly, to the point where I was able to say: I shall believe the report of the Lord, please help my unbelief.
However, the journey down this road less travelled to this point of belief was not easy. Days were filled with tears, despair, hopelessness and tearless helplessness. Often at a place where the glimpse of hope that God knew what He was doing, even when I didn’t, was what kept me going. It was in this schoolroom of life’s hard kicks where I learnt that the journey was just as important as the destination for I was being shaped for my destiny.
So today what are the negative reports facing you? What have you been told that has literally taken the wind out of your sails? Know this, that God knocks on your door right now and asks you the same question “Whose report will you believe? Are you going to believe the negative reports and lies that the kingdom of darkness is trying to sell you OR are you going to believe that God has given you everything for life and godliness as you press toward the mark of the high calling in Jesus Christ?
Stand up and be counted you are the child of the Most High God. Believe him when the LORD who created you says “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep water and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you…Others died that you might live…” (Isaiah 43:1-4 NLT). BELIEVE NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER!!
PRAYER
God we are bawling out to You as the negative reports are coming down on us and we feel overwhelmed. We often don’t know what or who to believe but in our unbelief Lord, help us to believe your report of good news that Jesus Christ our Saviour is the same yesterday, today and forever. To believe that You don’t lie and that your plans to prosper us, to give us a hope and a future will happen as you fulfill your plans for our lives. We praise you and honour you as our Alpha and Omega, Jesus our Lord and Saviour. Amen
